R&D Environment

Reporting directly to the president, the Research & Development Department puts together research policy and strategy for the Oiles Group as a whole and takes them forward in a unified way across the company. The department is engaged in a wide range of research and analysis under the following R&D structure to pursue not only a range of materials including plastic and metals, but also tribology and damping materials such as seismic isolation and vibration control sliding materials and vibration reduction components.

Based on the distinctive technologies and various expertise we have accumulated since our founding, the R&D Department has leveraged its diverse research facilities to meet the needs of the times, sometimes create the technology required by society, and develop new products, technologies, and materials. As a venue for producing the inquisitive minds and enterprising attitudes that have been the driving force behind these ambitious activities, we are engaged in R&D daily in the R&D Building at the Fujisawa Plant, that forms our R&D base in pursuit of further technological innovation. The results of our R&D are then taken from Fujisawa to the rest of Japan, and then from Japan to the world.

Oiles research facilities are fully equipped with testing and analysis instruments to undertake verification of all stages of research, from initial information gathering and through a repeated process of trial and error involving material selection, evaluation testing and analysis, up to commercialization.
